Summer Reading Recommendations

On my desk and nightstand this week:

1. Cinderella Man : James Braddock, Max Baer, and the Greatest Upset in Boxing History In addition to the story of Braddock (truth is really stranger than fiction), it’s an excellent look at life in the Depression.

2. The Reformation : A History (Modern Library Chronicles) More of the “Think Forward, Look Backward” reading I’m always recommending. As noted on the fly leaf: “No revolution, however drastic, has ever involved a total repudiation of what came before it.” The religious reformation of the 16th century helped shape today’s geopolitical environment.

Non-biz, relaxing mind candy:

3. Pizza: A Slice of Heaven : The Ultimate Pizza Guide and Companion If you love food, and reading about food as much as I do - this is a good one!

4. Cold Service (Spenser Mysteries (Hardcover)This is the gazillionth Spenser detective novel by Parker, but still good. You can whip through this one in an evening (or at the beach.)
