I don’t even know how to find a blog! (and, why would I want to?)
A good friend and colleague (and very smart woman) said this to me yesterday. She’s totally perplexed why I’m so excited about blogging.
So, if you’ve managed to find your way here - and still wonder what all the fuss is about - here’s some food for thought. Of course, as with any technology tool, blogging isn’t for everybody, but it can be a great tool for small biz that doesn’t have the staff or dollars to do many different high-impact marketing tactics or customer relations programs. Properly done, a blog enables a small business to give a highly personal touch to its online communications and improve its visibility on the web. Both are very important, as people of all ages are increasingly hitting the web first in looking for a restaurant, plumber, medical advice or professional services. An attorney client of mine tells me her web site paid for itself in the first month.
Can’t type well? Better at talking your passion than writing it? An audio blog could be for you.
And, adding a blog to the web site can really help your search rankings. The more fresh content you have - the better Google likes it (ditto links, as long as they’re quality).
There’s lots more. If you’re in the Albuquerque area - come join Roxanne Darling of Bare Feet Studios and me for lunch on Friday, August 5, for How to Use Blogging to Your Advantage. Rox will give you the inside scoop of how simple it is to become a blogger extraordinaire.
