Empathy - The New Killer App?
Dan Pink was here in the quirky burque last night - talking about his new book, A Whole New Mind: Moving from the Information Age to the Conceptual Age
In talking about our constantly revolving, evolving society, he noted that there are three main factors - Abundance, Asia, and Automation. Re Abundance - Dan asked the group of about 35 “How many of you have stuff in self-storage?” Only one woman ‘fessed up. I told him he should have asked, “How many of you can’t fit your cars into your three-car garage because it’s so jammed with stuff?” Something to ponder as we go about our weekend. Sure, we’ve got problems - but overall, the U.S. is mind-boggling wealthy.
The other thing that really stood out was his statement, “Empathy may be the new ‘killer app.’” Hmmm…Ponder point #2 for you.
