The Friday Good News Report

good news Cranky curmudgeon that I am - I decided for once to post some good news notes on business, life and stuff.

Business:
The number of women-owned businesses keeps growing (at twice the national rate). Sure, we still have some major difficulties (access to capital being a biggie), but this growth bodes well for innovation and progress. (You fellas always wonder why we go to the restroom in groups and stay so long? We’re in there planning world domination.)

Now, if more companies would catch on that we women have money and spend it on everything from high-dollar sports cars to lawnmowers. They also need to learn that going after the “women market” takes a lot more than throwing some pink around and using warm fuzzy language. (Oops - sorry. My “cranky” side came through a bit there.)

And, fellow femmes - check out Ten Tips over at the re:invention blog. (Tools for women entrepreneurs)

Life: Found Laura Bennett’s pet blog this week. Lots of good information - both interesting and practical as well as links to more good things.

Stuff:
1. Jon Stewart is hosting the Oscars; pomposities will be pricked!
2. Matthew McConaughey exists; ‘nuf said.

Have a good one! I’m off to Taos to play in the snow.
