I’m in a ‘tooni mood!

Martini Shaker As my favorite candidate for governor of Texas, Kinky Friedman, notes, “Remember: Y’all is singular. All y’all is plural. All y’all’s is plural possessive.” So, let’s get started on some Friday good news for all y’all. The quicker I finish typing for the day, the quicker I can start the ‘tooni shaking.

Business: New Orleans is still hurting badly but businesses are coming back. Family-owned Rubensteins clothing store was open again just six weeks after Katrina hit. Restaurants have been re-opening steadily and Mardi Gras is happening. At the end of the day, it’s the “little” people all along the Gulf coast - not the political palavering and promises - that are making it happen.

Life: It’s a baby step, but at least it’s a headline. Bush pushes renewable energy use. (Does his Mamma know he’s talkin’ lak this?)

Stuff: PBS is airing six all-new Monty Python specials. Each of the six one-hour programs will focus on one member of the original troupe - Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and Terry Jones - and showcase favorite clips from the group’s television series and movies, mixed with new footage.

This just in from Andy Borowitz, “ARMED CHENEY TO GUARD PORTS Shotgun-packing Veep Offers Solution to Port Controversy” Whew, we can relax! (And, aren’t we all glad we don’t work in PR for the White House? Yikes.)

That’s it for the week! So, I’m passing the blog bowler again. If you got a chuckle or idea from this (or any of my posts), drop a little (or a lot) of change to:

Katrina Gulf Coast help: Oxfam America.
If you’re in New Mexico: Road Runner Food Bank. Founded in 1980, the food bank distributes millions of pounds of food each year through a statewide network of over 700 emergency food pantries, group homes, low-income day care centers, shelters, soup kitchens, and seven smaller, regional food banks. And, remember, people are hungry year-round not just during the holidays.

(I don’t get a cut - won’t know if you do it, but y’all will.)
