“It’s Martini Time!”

Martini Time As Reverend Horton Heat so eloquently emotes. Times does fly and here it is another fried, frazzled Friday. So, without further ado - here’s my brief good news report.

Business: Senator Ron Wyden (D-Oregon) is introducing a bill that would prohibit Internet network operators from charging companies for faster delivery of their content to consumers or favoring some content providers over others. While its not got everything - its a start! Otherwise, the Long Tail could get bobbed and whole lot of innovation, fun, and opportunity will go out of this world.

Life: Fats Domino is still “Alive & Kickin” (the title track of his new album). You may recall seeing him rescued by helicopter from his flooded N’awlins (9th ward) house on Sept. 1. The album is being released as a benefit for the Tipitina’s Foundation, which has aided New Orleans musicians with everything from Internet service to new eyeglasses to more than $300,000 worth of new instruments. It is available from www.tipitinasfoundation.org.

Stuff: Need a grin - check out How to Keep Dinosaurs. It’s written as if dinosaurs live today, with “photos,” tips on selection and care. All written in that wonderful deadly serious yet supremely silly British style. (The T-Rex is a really bad pet idea, by the way, even though they’re such cute babies.)

But, wait - here’s breaking news!
From The Onion: Rotation of Earth Plunges Entire North American Continent into Darkness

Commerce has been brought to a virtual standstill, with citizens electing either to remain home with loved ones or gather in dimly lit restaurants and bars.

So, I’m off to take refuge in my dimly lit living room, ‘tooni in hand. If you’ve enjoyed this or other of my posts, drop a dime (or a dollar or two) to: Nature Conservancy They can’t do much about the dinosaurs, but they “help preserve plants, animals and natural communities all over the world, each and every single day.” And, part of their effectiveness is they work with businesses, so everyone benefits.
