Finally, It’s Friday!

martini Another week, another TGIF post and it’s past my martini starting time. So let’s go for a quick ramble through reality and surreality. Olives are waiting!

Why I love blogging. I don’t write much about blogging since that can get really tedious, really fast. But, I do love it, for many reasons. Now, “my” minister is blogging about her four-month sabbatical. I’ve always thought she was fabulous, but have never taken the time to know her. Now, I can do so, thanks to her blog.

This Week’s Blog Recommendation: Ripples: post-corporate adventures Since I’m a Corporate America refugee, I can really relate to this one! If you’re thinking of starting your own business, check out his post on micro biz. (Yes, Mr. St. Laurence is also selling a book, but he obviously puts a lot of thought into his posts, and they’re absolutely free.)

Keeping Perspective:

“In my many years I have come to a conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm, and three or more is a congress.” - John Adams

Talk about surreal! When I read the headlines coming out of D.C., I feel like a very harried and depressed Alice down the rabbit hole. Things in Washington are a mess and we, the people, need to get to work cleaning it up. But, we also need to keep things in perspective. Things have always been a mess (as you can see from the above quote), so don’t lose hope. Lots of good things are happening at the grassroots level.

Despite all the noise out here in blogville (and elsewhere) most people actually aren’t that far apart on the issues. My GOP friends and I concur that things like fiscal responsibility, alternative energy development, affordable health care, quality education for all, and responsible environmental stewardship are good things. So, let’s hold our elected officials (of all parties) accountable for performance, integrity and civility.

Down off my soapbox now. Have a great weekend! And, if you got an idea or chuckle out of this, drop a dime over at: Habitat for Humanity.

One Response to “Finally, It’s Friday!”

  1. David St Lawrence Says:

    Thanks for the recommendation, Mary!

Hope that things are going well on the business development front.

As a refugee from Corporate America, you might find that my book, Danger Quicksand - Have A Nice Day, validates all that you suspected, but may have never shared. It may even have unexpected value for a business developer.

Send me your address and I’ll send you a complemtary copy.
