Seems like just yesterday I wrote a Friday’s martini post. (Anybody else feel like we’re living in some sci-fi story where time has speeded up? Or am I just getting old?) This has been a very hectic couple of weeks for me, between buying a house and working to pay for the house. Sooooo, without further ado, on to Friday’s irrelevance and irreverence.

This Weeks’ Blog Recommendation: Running with Tweezers No, it’s not about Donald Trump’s eyebrows. It’s a foodie blog, irreverent and well written.

I’m bragging: (Because it’s my blog and I can.) Albuquerque was just ranked #1 by Forbes, on its 2006 list of top cities for businesses and careers. My quirky burque has also shown up on “top” lists for the arts and fitness. Sure, we’ve got problems, but what city doesn’t? So take that, all the negative folks who’ve told me, “You don’t understand. You can’t do (blank) in Albuquerque.” Well, somebody is!

And, from the I couldn’t make up stuff this good file: Pick any headline coming out of Washington these days. What are those folks smokin’? And, can they make it legal for the rest of us? (Pssst. Note to the White House. When facing opposition, upping your PR efforts may not be the answer. Your idea/activity just might not be a good thing to do. I’ll say all this into my phone later for your easy reference.)

Lastly, a wee bit of serious thought. Buying a house has refreshed and reinforced my respect for Habitat home owners. Real estate prices continue to skyrocket and it’s becoming increasingly difficult for people to own a home in a decent neighborhood. I looked at houses I couldn’t afford in neighborhoods I wouldn’t feel safe living in.
