Another Rainy Friday

NM Desert Rain Yes, it’s raining again here in New Mexico. Green stuff is popping up in the most unexpected places as the desert takes full advantage of this unusual water from the sky. (Personally, I’ve decided to designate all unknown plants in my yard as wild flowers so as to save time and my back.)

On to random thoughts and such for musing over martinis (or the liquid refreshment of your choice). Remember, on Fridays I go all over the place - so if you’re looking for a hard-nosed biz tip, this isn’t the post for you. (I’ll be back in biz mode on Monday.)

Random Thought #1: I appreciate that Ms. Rice has a difficult job, what with trying to prevent WWIII and keep the President happy. But, doncha think ticklin’ the ivories should be - like - really really low on her “to do” list when on a diplomatic mission?

Random Thought (Peeve) #2: Some (many) of us liberals aren’t wimpy. And, we believe in fiscal responsibility, personal accountability, common sense and common decency. So, how do we get the hate out of the media? Free speech, with vigorous debate, is healthy and needed. Promoting hate and intolerance isn’t (that goes for all of us - liberals, conservatives, whatever.) Any constructive action suggestions - please share! (Yep, I outed myself a while back re being a liberal progressive tree-hugger.)

And, as long as we’ve rambled into verboten political land - here’s one of my favorite quotes (by Robert Frost), “A liberal is a man too broadminded to take his own side in a quarrel.” Yep, while we “Ls” are busy making sure everyone is in the tent, has been heard, are being addressed in politically correct fashion and gotten in on the group hug - the conservatives/GOP have lobbied, written the law, implemented it and moved on to the next thing. (Of course, lately the GOP seems to be in as much disarray as the Demos. And, conservative ain’t the same as Republican these days.)

News: This caught my eye over at Wired. Confessions of a Cybermule. While the mule is despicable, I can’t help but feel sorry for the guy. It must be awful to be so low on the moral food chain.

More: To view gorgeous images of rainy New Mexico vistas, by a professional photographer, go here. I get to look at this sort of breath-taking, ever-changing scenery all the time, in reality and for free! And did driving back from Las Cruces on Wednesday evening. Incredible thunderstorms and sunset light show! Can you tell I love my home state? More bragging: Online travel agency says Duke City is a must-see. (Albuquerque is the Duke City.)
