Columbus the Brand
Seth Godin has a most excellent post in which he sees the explorer as a successful marketer. Yes, but what was his brand and was he really successful? Nobody is really sure who he was (rather like Shakespeare) and he also died thinking he was a failure. (He didn’t find what he was looking for - didn’t hit that target!)
I’m just sayin’…Maybe he’s not the best role model.
Happy Columbus/Columbo/Colon/Coloun/Explorer/Exploiter Day!
P.S. Nobody really knows what he looked like either - the above portrait came from the artist’s imagination.
