Service Star: Dr. Emily Walker (Again!)

Dan the two-legged catA few months ago, I noted how my vet, Dr. Emily Walker, went above and beyond (repeatedly) to prolong the life and well-being of my oldest cat. (No, no - don’t run. This isn’t a “cute cat” post.)

Then last week, I received a letter from the Cornell Feline Health Center. I opened it out of curiosity, expecting a plea for my money. Turns out Dr. Walker and the Albuquerque Cat Clinic made a monetary contribution to the Center in Teddy’s memory. Wow!

Caring and class - a great customer-loyalty building combination. Yet another reason I’ll drive clear across the city, with yowling cats, to visit Dr. Walker. It’s also a smart move by Cornell. They’re working to build their donor base and are now on my “do gooder” radar screen.

As noted on the clinic’s web site, “We strive to continually exceed our clients’ expectations in the care and treatment of their feline companions.” I’m convinced Emily and her staff more than walk their talk. Think it’s a coincidence that the clinic is expanding? I don’t.

(The cat shown is Dan, the two-legged female who lives at the clinic. Dr. Walker had to amputate Dan’s back legs, due to extensive damage done by dogs. The fiesty girl brings a lot of personality to the place, speeding down the hall and rolling over for belly rubs. Call it “cute” if you like - I call it an amazing example of Dr. Walker’s ability and commitment as well as animals’ ability to adapt.)
