The Super Bowl – Why Bother?

I admit, I’m not a pro football fan. Somehow the thrill of watching no-neck millionaires run around the field and into each other is lost on me. When I do watch a game I much prefer college (the “little” schools) or even high school ball, cheering from the stands (with adult beverage in hand.) The boys still seem to be having some fun and it’s real life – not packaged for mass market consumption. The only reason I ever watch the Super Bowl (which is usually a pretty boring game) is for the ads. And, apparently I didn’t miss anything yesterday while I was busy falling down a mountain. (Note to self: ski more often than every three years…)

If you want to read about the blah Super Bowl ads (and what have should have been done differently), visit Seth Godin and Opinionated Marketers – (John here) and (Maureen here, with a live play-by-play view of all the commercials.)
