Blog or Web Site or Both?

For those of you who are still thinking about maybe, possibly, some day upgrading your web site and maybe, just maybe doing a blog - Mike Sansone does a great job of explaining why a site and a blog can be/is the same thing. Forget the terminology and that silly word, “blog” for a second. For example, you’re right now visiting my on-line office and this center column is a conversation in my inner sanctum.

I also love that Mike lists the City of Albuquerque for its clean design and blogs. Now, if our controversial Mayor Marty(1) is brave enough to blog - what’s stopping you? In any event, check out the site - at least the photos in the header. You’ll see why I love living here. (Thanks, Mike! Come visit sometime. We don’t have Panera, but I’ll introduce you to the locally owned Flying Star. When Bruce Fryer was in town a couple of weeks ago, he dubbed it “awesome!”)

For those of you who have no idea who Mike or Bruce are, or don’t get the references - I met both via blogging and we’ve become good friends. And - full disclosure - Bruce is now one of my clients. So, yes, I get business from blogging. More importantly - it’s fun, “let’s commit marketing arson” business.

(1) Yes, it’s largely Mayor PR but it’s a start…

If you’d like to leave a comment, please do so. It may take a bit to show up since I hate making people type in little letters (I can’t read most of them myself) - so I moderate all comments. Feel free to disagree - debate is healthy. However, I’ve blacklisted the worst obscenities, including the “f” word, as part of the troll wall.

    Hi Mary,

I sure hope the people there are listening and that Mayor Marty knows how much Mary Schmidt means to Albuquerque.

Today, I was speaking at a local ABWA chapter. Apparently there is a national conference in ABQ later this year. First thing I mention? Gotta check out Mary Schmidt.

There was a day when someone mentioned ABQ - my first thought was DUKES. Not anymore. Now, when people mention ABQ - I think MARY SCHMIDT! So do others.

Thanks, Mike! However, I’m not sure the city would consider that a complliment ;-)

By all means, tell people to give me a ring or drop me a line if they want recommendations about what to do, etc. while they’re here.
