Martini Musing: Let’s Get Small!
It’s been a very busy, rambling week so my Friday martini post is going to be - well- a bit of a ramble, way off biz topics.
The times they are a’changin. Granted the changes are sometimes seemingly small, but they’re beginning to add up. I loved seeing “women of a certain age” at the Oscars. And, they all (Catherine Deneuve, Helen Mirren, Diane Keaton…) looked fabulous! Read More: Yvonne at Lip-Sticking on What Do Women Want? and Chris Nel at Tom Peters on Glam Versus Grey.
Small Minds: Post-Oscars, after the An Inconvenient Truth wins - there was Sean Hannity berating Darryl Hannah about Al Gore’s utility bills (!?) Hannity reminds me of the hulking, dimwitted high school linebacker who’s best friends with the quarterback. When the QB isn’t around, the lug doesn’t quite know what to do, but he does it loudly and usually violently. He moves his lips when reading in study hall and if he does finally grasp some semblance of an idea, no force on earth can change his little ape mind. Okay, I’m being - um - small. Hannity is an easy target. But, Darryl Hannah? With frontmen like this, the radical far right doesn’t need any enemies.
Good Things in Small Packages: I ran across The Small House Society. Their mission: “Our desire is to support the research, development, and use of smaller living spaces that foster sustainable living for individuals, families, and communities worldwide.” No, we don’t all need McMansions and three car garages into which we can’t fit our cars because we have so much stuff. Small can be beautiful (and very functional.)
Good News for My City and Planet: Tesla is building an electric car plant here in the quirky burque. These won’t be quirky little golf cart thangs either - we’re talking four-door sedans.
Sure, there’s a lot of doom and gloom (and justifiably so) about global heating and our damaged world, but there are also some bright spots (even if Al Gore is spending way too much on electricity…heh)
Happy Friday! I may go snowshoeing (huff puff waddle, waddle) again before it all starts melting. (Or then again, after such a hectic week, I may just stay in my bathrobe all day tomorrow and stare at the wall…)

I vote for staying in your bathrobe. Then again, snowshoeing will likely be more fun. Have some fun! Thanks for the mention - I want to support your final paragraph - we should ALL give to the charity or non-profit of our choice - because small numbers quickly become big numbers. Remember the penny story: how much will you have at the end of a month, if you start with a penny and double it every day?
