Martini Musing: Inexcusable & Immature
It’s another Friday – when I go off the biz rails. I’ll be back in “politically correct” business mode on Monday (or as correct as I ever get.)
Watching the latest brouhaha re a certain boring writer pundit one-note insult “comic” and her “joke” about Senator Edwards gives me a royal pain in the – um – head. She’s also said similar things about Bill Clinton and Al Gore. Forget liberal, conservative, red, blue, purple, whatever. It’s ridiculous that anybody is even “debating” this in the media – with her or each other. Nobody should consider it “funny” (snigger, snigger) to call someone a fag or faggot. I’d love to see an interviewer ask her, “So, help me understand. Just exactly why is this funny?”
We can do better, folks. People like this will only do such inexcusable, immature things as long as they can get away with it (and make money.)
No, I’m not against freedom of speech. However, there should also be respect, honesty, fairness, tact and dignity. (Call me old-fashioned, but you can have spirited debates without sinking to obscenities and “Oh Yeah, Yo’ mamma…” crap.) Interesting to note for us here in blogville that the attention junkie has the following rules for participating in her chat area.
- Ann Coulter is our hostess. You may agree or disagree with her positions, but any disrespect towards Ann will be grounds for immediate removal.
-All debate must be honest and fair.
-Obscene, profane, vulgar, or threatening posts will not be tolerated.
-Any other inappropriate behavior (as determined by the moderators) may be cause for warning or removal. A poster’s removal is not a topic for open discussion.
Now, that’s funny! Us grown-ups have a saying, “If you’re going to dish it out, you gotta be able to take it.”
