Martini Musing: Why I Don’t Twitter
…I’m just not that interesting. The only reason my friends would want breaking news about me and my meanderings is if they needed a surefire sleep aid. I’m extremely happy with my “not so big” life but that doesn’t make for thrilling reading.
Of course, I don’t think I’m the main target for the new social networking thang, Twitter. Remember when we were young? Everything we did or said was earthshaking high drama! And, nobody had ever before done what we were doing! So, I’m reserving judgment about the Twitter business model and potential value to society (particularly since my fellow blogger, Susan, has found it of value.) Now, I think I’ll go drink a martini and read a book…play with the cats…go to bed by 10 with the latest Saveur. (See? Zzzzzzzz….)
Happy Friday! Tomorrow I’ll be watching Paula Deen, mowing the weeds lawn and doing some client work. Sunday, fill up the gas tank and meander up the back road to Santa Fe, maybe stop for lunch at the San Marcos cafe and pet the chickens…(Are you still awake?)

If you’d like to leave a comment, please do so. It may take a bit to show up since I hate making people type in little letters (I can’t read most of them myself) - so I moderate all comments. Feel free to disagree - debate is healthy. However, I’ve blacklisted the worst obscenities, including the “f” word, as part of the troll wall.

I don’t know, Mary— I enjoyed reading just the few twitter-esque things you offered here… if you think of it from your readers’ point of view, some of us are halfway across the world and the very mention of Santa Fe or The San Marcos cafe can stir quite a lot more than a yawn. And don’t count yourself out because of age group— one of the top ten twitterers comes from our neck of the century… you should give it a trial week and see if people don’t follow you. I bet they will.

Thanks, Melissa.
I’ll keep it in mind - as I said, I’m reserving judgment. But I can barely keep up with this blog and work and real life interaction with people.
I’ll think of you if I go to Santa Fe tomorrow (I am, I admit, terribly spoiled, living in New Mexico.)

Mary - I can see some business applications, as well as, crisis management uses for Twitter. The ability to build groups without regard to mobile platforms/companies and the ability to hold history of text messages is intriguing.
However, while I looking at the world from the view from New Mexico is pretty cool . . my life is much a yawn. I tend to doubt if people would be interested in the minutia of when my pup barks at the cat next door or when I feel guilty for not watering my roses or not writing on my blog. Keep us posted if you do decide to become a Twit or is that a Twitterer? Id be interested in the learnings from your experiment.
