Secrets of SEO and Blogging

For those of you who are still learning about effective SEO and blogging (including moi) here’s a post from The Dog Yard (via Yvonne at Lipsticking) about SEO and blog linking. A good educational post we can all use. A short snippet:

One of the saddest so-called SEO advices is “don’t pass link juice” to other sites. Many bloggers still use “rel=nofollow” in their entries to prevent their page rank from dripping away. This is one of those selfish acts many webmasters do to please Google. And the WWW revolves around Google (?!)…

What these webmasters don’t know is that people don’t care about their “rel=nofollow” tags. They follow. And because they follow, the PageRank doesn’t matter.

I figure if I write good stuff, you’ll keep coming back. And, if I send you to useful links, you’ll remember that I did so…and then come back.

Otherwise, I shouldn’t be blogging. And, you shouldn’t even consider hiring me to help you with Web marketing strategies.

That’s default, out of the box functionality in Wordpress and all of the other blog packages I’ve worked with.

Coincidentally, it’s the first bit of code I junk in a fresh install. Friends show friends the love.
