Why Marketing Gets No Respect, Exhibit 4,458

Just too good not to share - via John Whiteside at Opinionated Marketers:

Over at Church of the Customer Blog, Jackie Huba rightly calls out self-absorbed marketers who think the world just wants more ads. The quote, from a Yankee Group analyst, is too great not to share:

“The day is coming when wireless users will experience nirvana scenarios — mobile ads tied to your individual behavior, what you are doing, and where you are.”

Wow! I can hardly wait! Ads on my cell! Gosh, now if somewhere they had a “YES, PLEASE DO CALL ME!” list for telemarketing, my life would be ecstatic!

Sigh. What are these dreamers of the nirvana scenarios smoking?

I’m with Jackie on this one - her idea of nirvana “involves a tropical beach, Matt Damon and a lovely banana dacquiri.” (I could live with that, but my preferred version: Penthouse suite at the Waldorf-Astoria in NYC, Daniel Craig, and a case of champagne…)
