Weds Whimsy: Burger King’s Burgers are Upset!

One thing during my recent trip through Germany that really tickled my sense of whimsy (okay, maybe I’m easily tickled) was the Burger King “Angry Whopper” signs I saw all over the place (even in very small villages.) It comes with “angry” onions and “angry” jalapenos.
Talk about pushing the marketing envelope! Somehow I don’t think this commercial would fly in the good ol’ US of A.
Unfortunately, I never had my camera out to get a pic, so the above image is courtesy of a German blog…and it appears some Germans are just as perplexed by this one as I. However, if I still ate burgers, I’d have tried this Whopper out of sheer curiosity, so who’s to say it’s not the right approach? And, “spicy” means a whole different thing to the Germans than it does to this chile head, so they should really be curious. (I tried a “hot” salsa I bought in Mainz…nice tomato sauce.)
P.S. In Budapest, this one is called the “Hot Texas Whopper” which - while it made me grin - just ain’t as fun as “Angry Whopper.”
