Heads Up Re Hand-Made Spam

For my readers who are still getting into the groove of the whole blogging & social media “thang”

Spam with Cheese on topComment spammers have been getting steadily smarter. Now, you have to actually read it to know it’s spam - someone has taken the time to write something that seems reasonable and includes a link…but there’s something just a little off about it. For example, this comment on my post today:

That happiness thing is a frequent topic of discussion. The challenge is to figure out what makes you happy or provides joy. Once you firgure that out you can move along toward your goals.

I’ve been reading the posts at www.JamesBlah.com wherein he often speaks of the joy derived from his family. His story is quite poignant because he’s done a complete make-over of his life and this brings him much joy.

Nothing against poignancy and joy, but my built-in BS detector starts twitching, particularly since this is the second one I’ve gotten in as many days promoting smart, amazing, joyful Mr. Blah. (Obviously this isn’t his real name.) So I go check out the website.

Man, talk about Spam with Cheese on top! The guy is selling pre-packaged biz miracles and even says, “Sign up below to have all of your wildest dreams come true” Wowee! You mean I can get world peace, save the polar bear, stop global warming AND have Daniel Craig at my beck and call? Kewl!

Seriously, keep an eye out and don’t give these cheesy spammers the Google juice they’re after. As for those Internet biz miracles? Puhlease. You too can make thousands a month stuffing envelopes at home…
