Employee Versus Customer - Nobody Wins
“As an employee, I can’t…”
“As a customer, I don’t…”
As I was dashing out of the grocery store the other day I passed the employee and customer. Body language was tense; volume was escalating; and it was obvious a stand-off was happening.
I almost stopped and asked, “Hey, why don’t you rephrase that to, “As a fellow person…” (But I was in a hurry and some people carry guns.) Just a change in perspective could make all the difference. Sure, the issue may still be a problem, but now there are two people talking about how to solve it.
“It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
