The 2008 “Git ‘R Done” List
Those of you who have worked with me know I’m a “get it done” type. Or, as Herb Kelleher once said, “We have a strategic plan. We call it doing things.” (Yes, you should have a plan, but it can be on a sticky note, just do it.)
So, here’s a really short “Git ‘R Done” List:
1. Clean up the web site. C’mon - when was the last time you updated the “About” and “News” sections? (I’m headed over there on my site right after I type this…and I “just” renovated the site.)
2. Google yourself. As Seth Godin notes, everyone else is. What will they find about you? If they find nothing, that’ll tell them something too (and nothing ain’t good.)
3. Make five phone calls or send five emails now for business development and relationship building (not to get too fuzzy-wuzzy but it’s really the same thing.) Get started with some new oppportunities today. It’ll be 12/31/08 before we know it.
4. Blog, baby, blog. Yep, it’s a silly word - get over it. Focus on the communications capabilities. If you don’t have a blog, at least read (and comment on) others. But, don’t comment just to comment or for the links. Participate in the conversation…and be prepared that someone may disagree with you. That can be fun…really.
5. Stop making do (you could be making money.) Buy that new technology now. (I should be getting my new Macbook today - so I can be really mobile and more productive when visiting clients’ offices. Worth the investment.)
Then, tomorrow you can…;-)
