“Important Information Regarding Your Account” Delete!

Delete keyAnother one for the “why is this so hard for companies to understand?” file

This translates - for me - into “we’re sending yet another junk email trying to get you to buy something.”

If it’s time to pay my bill - I’d appreciate the heads-up with a subject line that says, “It’s time to pay your bill.” Short, to-the-point and I’d pop right over and pay.

As it is, I generally delete any “important” emails unread. Yeah, I’ll probably miss the opportunity of a lifetime some day - but I’ll take that chance.

And, if I sign up for online bill payment - the email shouldn’t have marketing crap in it and then a link that then takes me to pay my bill - after I jump through more “buy something!” hoops. It should be a one-click deal in the body of the email (Even little ol’ sole proprietor me can do this for clients. It’s easy, really.)

And then there’s American Airlines. They can’t be bothered to respond to my emails re a problem - but they have no problem with filling up my email box with all kinds of mportant and special offers for their “prized” customers. Delete, delete, delete…I don’t care how great that deal is - after the way you dissed me, I’m not flyin’ with ya.

P.S. I also throw away snail mail unopened that says “important information.” I’ve learned which companies are sending me junk when they say that - which is just about all of ‘em.
