Martini Musing – “New” Blogs
Confession: I don’t subscribe to many RSS feeds – I once became a feed junkie so had to stop. And, yes, I know that’s not leading-edge kewl…but hey, I need to do things like feed the cats, work and eat. And RSS feeds for a data hog/reading addict like me is like giving crack to Pete Douherty.
That said, on Fridays, I try to cruise and find new blogs – and one way to do that is check out blogs on the various lists around the Web. Here are some re Social Media and All That Stuff (from a list by Evan Carmichael, via my blogging bud, Mike Sansone, ConverStations, who’s on the list.)
Chris Brogan and his post: Creating Honest Content Marketing. I know that seems like a three-word oxymoron (if there is such a thing) – but give it a read.
Neville Hobson: Social media is the strategic core, says Dell. Snip from an interview with Andy Lark, VP Global Marketing at Dell.
The social media stuff is probably the most important we do today, from a marketing stand point. The other elements of the marketing mix have sort of become more and more transactional and more and more tactical in nature. Social media stuff is much more strategic…
Well, I don’t know how well Dell will ultimately walk this talk, but I do know that when I’ve posted about them here at The Idea Pool – there’s a Dell person commenting, and doing so nicely, even when I’ve not been so-nice about them. So, yep, I think Dell is getting it.
And, normally I tend to shy from blogs and publications that have the word “convergence” in their description or assign a versions number (Web 2.0, PR 2.0, etc.) – often too self-consciously “leading-edge” (which gets old quickly) but this one merits a look…
Brian Solis, PR 2.0: The Socialization of Your Brand, Part I.
“…and for many of us, a preliminary online personal brand may already exist. Social Media doesn’t discriminate between age groups and technical proficiency. Everything is indexed and saved equally on the Web where it will remain for years until more strategic content is produced that will invariably eclipse what exists today.”
Indeed. There Are No Secrets On The Web.
Happy Reading & Happy Friday!
