Lies? Or “False Information?”

Pinochio

Tom Peters posted that he would never write about politics on his blog - and of course, us commenters immediately started talking about - um - politics. (However, being Mr. P’s blog, we all wrote in complete sentences and avoided obscenities, unlike many commenters on the political blogs, who always make me feel like taking another shower. This is what Ms. Palin’s supporters think of her? Ewwww-yewwwww…) One of the commenters on Mr Peters blog corrected another that instead of “lies” she should have said “false information.”

What’s the difference? Other than good ‘ol Mad Men advertising spin. Could you (or I) tell a customer “No, really, I didn’t lie to you. I simply gave you false information.”

And here’s Seth Godin on lieing repeatedly with a straight face spin.

P.S. If you’re not watching Mad Men this season - go download it right now and catch up! Great, nuanced show.

Y’all have a happy unspun Tuesday now!
