Martini Musing - I’m Giving More Now
The other day I had lunch with a senior banking exec - and we (of course) got to talking about the economy. Her bank is doing just fine and in fact, is still making loans. So, a bright spot right there!
Both she and I are also involved in nonprofits…I noted that I’m actually giving more to various worthy causes this year. I’m not doing great, but I’m doing okay…and many people aren’t. The banker said she’s heard “I’m giving more” from a lot of people, which is encouraging.
I’m all for spreading a little of my “wealth” around…but then I also shared my toys when I was a child (I even gave them away, which really irritated Mom. But, I was an only child and got about three times the stuff my friends did on any given Christmas.)
And, really, it doesn’t take a lot to make a very big difference. It costs me a whole $17.90 to “buy” 10 Thanksgiving dinners for Joy Junction, a local homeless shelter. Every dollar donation to the Roadrunner Food Bank enables them to distribute $9 worth of food, so my $30 check translated into $270 worth of food. And so on.
Y’all have a healthy and wealthy Friday!
