“What’s The Government Going To Do About It?”

The other day, a representative from the local water authority spoke at a lunch meeting I attended. She was briefing us about the water situation (serious, but not hopeless) here in Albuquerque. We’ve actually made a lot of progress in water conservation, but, as with any complex problem, we’ve still got a lot we should be doing.

One fella asked the question, “Well, what about all those houses being built on the west side? They’re out of control! What’s the government going to do about it?” Which is a real problem and a valid question….but…

Here’s the thing. We can’t sit around and wait for “the government” to save the city, economy, country, or world. It’s “WE THE PEOPLE.” We don’t have to wait for Obama’s inauguration (the man ain’t a magician after all) or Congress action (Heh. Now that’s an oxymoron, regardless of who’s in power.)

WE can – RIGHT NOW:

1. Conserve energy in our homes and business.
2. Reduce water usage.
3 Reduce our expenses and start saving.
4. Spend wisely instead of wildly.
5. Work with our fellow biz owners on “out of the box” ideas for job creation and our very own economic stimulus.
…Stop being scared and do something.

One Response to ““What’s The Government Going To Do About It?””

  1. Beware of the three great lies:

    1. Your cheque’s in the mail;

    2. Of course I’ll still respect you in the morning; and

    3. I’m from the government and I am here to help you.

    Let’s hope we are on the eve of a great new era in which we choose to help each other because we share the same planet.

    Good luck with your new President, but please don’t destroy him, with expectations that he can do it all for you.

    We have all got to be a part of the solution!
