Yum! The Butter Factor
From “It’s the Little Things” Customer Loyalty File
Yesterday, friends and I went to a matinee showing of Julie and Julia. For those who haven’t seen the movie – it’s about a young woman, Julie Powell, who cooks her way through Julia Child’s epic, Mastering The Art of French Cooking. It’s a wonderful movie – terrific acting, lovely story, beautiful images of Paris in the late 1940s…and lots and LOTS of butter, melting, sizzling, swirling…
(By the end of the movie, I wanted to dash out and buy about 50 pounds of the lovely yellow stuff and start cooking.)
At dinner after, we were joking with the waitress that WHATEVER I ordered had to come with lots of melted butter. (Nothing on the menu, at Chama River Brewing Company, actually does)…so we had a laugh, and continued to enjoy our wine.
…but then our entrees came…the waitress says, “I asked the chef to add some melted butter for you.” And, there it was, in the not-so-little metal bowl. Did it “go” with my entree? No. Did I eat every bit of it (poured over my scallops and lobster mashed potatoes)? Absolutely! This morning, I’m fondly recollecting a special laugh- (and butter-) filled evening. And, will be returning the restaurant sooner rather later. (I don’t, however, expect melted butter every time.)
Now, where did I put that shopping list?
Bon Appetit!
