Creating Customer Loyalty for Only 44 Cents

Last Wednesday I woke up and realized I really, really, really needed a haircut RIGHT NOW (one day the hair is fine; the next I look like Crackhead Barbie…go figure.) So, I’d seen a sign at Beauty Essentials salon in my neighborhood – “$30 walk-in special.” Well, it’s always dicey trying a new place, but it’s only hair…it’ll grow back. So, I walked in. Nicole Baca took me right away; we talked about everything from her new baby coming (Olivia) to her baby poodles (women know more about each other in the first five minutes of conversation than men do after 25 years); she did a great job…and I was on my way in less than an hour.

Then two days later, a nice hand-written thank you note from Nicole comes in the snail mail. It was a “pleasure to meet you” and “I also look forward to seeing you in the future.” Phone number included.

Now, I was already thinking of going back…and Nicole sealed the deal…with a 44 cent stamp.

It’s the not-so-little things, people. The not-so-little things.
